ALLERGEN UPDATE

A friendly note to any of our customers who may have peanut allergies.

Koko Black's delicious creations are all handmade in Melbourne using 100% natural ingredients.

As we continue to expand our horizons, including exciting innovations and partnerships, some products in the Koko Black range will now be labelled as ‘may contain peanuts’ to cover possible cross-contact with peanut allergens.

Our products have not changed but we will welcome new lines soon enough, so if you or anyone you might share our product with is allergic to peanuts, please take this into consideration when purchasing our products.

FAQ

  1. Why does the packaging now say “may contain peanuts”?
The “may contain peanuts” label is added as a precautionary measure to indicate that peanuts could unintentionally come into contact with the product during production, despite strict cleaning and safety protocols. This ensures transparency and helps customers with allergies make informed decisions.

  2. Has the recipe changed?
No, the recipe for our product(s) has not changed. The update is due to the potential for cross-contact with peanuts during manufacturing, transportation, or storage.

  3. What does “may contain peanuts” mean?
This phrase indicates that while peanuts are not an ingredient in the product, there is a chance of cross-contact due to shared equipment or facilities used in production.

  4. Are there precautions in place to prevent cross-contact?
Yes, our facilities follow rigorous cleaning and allergen management protocols. However, despite these measures, the potential for cross-contact cannot be completely eliminated, which is why we’ve updated the labelling.

  5. Is this update compliant with allergen labelling regulations?
Yes, the update complies with all relevant allergen labelling regulations to ensure customer safety and transparency.

  6. What should I do if I have a peanut allergy?
If you have a peanut allergy, we recommend avoiding products labelled as “may contain peanuts” to minimize the risk of exposure
